Botanical name: piper nigrum

Aromatic description: pungent, spicy, warm, woody
Possible uses: anemia, poor appetite, arthritis, colds, colic, constipation, diarrhea, digestive support, nausea, rheumatism, sprains, toothache, vertigo, viral infection, vomiting; is stimulating the circulation and for muscular aches and pains; increases alertness and memory
Safety note: may cause skin irritation; those with kidney problems should not use; do not use if pregnant or lactating.
Carrot

Botanical name: daucus carota (carrot seed)
Extraction: steam distillation
Aromatic description: earthy, woody
Possible uses: stimulates circulation, repairs and tones the skin, increases elasticity, reduces the formation of wrinkles, and scars. Rich in Vitamin A, which can be absorbed into the skin.
Cinnamon

Botanical name: cinnamomum zeylanicum
Extraction: steam distillation
Perfumery note: middle
Strength of initial aroma: strong
Aromatic description: sweet, spicy, warm, peppery, earthy, smoky
Possible uses: constipation, exhaustion, flatulence, lice, low blood pressure, rheumatism, scabies, stress. Should be used with great caution.
Safety note: oil from bark is a skin toxin, can cause extreme irritation and sensitization; phototoxicity: avoid exposure to sunlight following application; irritating to mucous membranes; do not use internally; do not use if pregnant or lactating.
Citronella

Botanical name: cymbopogon nardus
Extraction: steam distillation

Aromatic description: sweet, lemony, grassy, fruity
Possible uses: colds, fatigue, flu, headache, migraine, insect repellent
Safety note: may cause irritation; do not use if pregnant or lactating
Botanical name: eugenia caryophyllata (clovebud)
Extraction: steam distillation
Strength of initial aroma: strong
Aromatic description: spicy, very warm
Possible uses: enhances concentration and can act as an aphrodisiac; most effective as an antiseptic when diffused, and helps for toothaches and abscesses when dabbed on the tooth.
Safety note: irritating to the skin and mucous membranes, extreme care should be taken when using on the skin. Avoid during pregnancy and do not use on children.
